A Cutting Edge Workshop

February 11, 2007

Wow! Louise Cutting sure puts on quite a show!

We had 63 people for our Tuesday night meeting. Louise talked us through several cool techniques and showed off some of her garmentslc20_edited-web.jpg

On Wednesday, about 40 of us sewed up a storm. Louise did a great job of picking techniques that had a lot of bang for the buck, like matching stripes, and was very patient showing us new ways to use those tools we all knew “real” sewists used by didn’t know why, like point pressers and pressing hams. Here we are gathered around the iron, learning about Steam-A-Seam.

And here we are, trickling back from the ironing “room” to the sewing “room”

Louise joked that we were getting enough exercise walking back and forth that we were earning some more doughnut holes!

All in all — a great couple of days! Hope you all enjoyed yourselves! Many thanks to Barbara and Teresa for doing such a great job putting it all together!

A Cool Exhibit

February 3, 2007

Today’s Eagle has a story on a nifty-looking exhibit at The Fiber Studio. A Wichita teacher spent a month in Japan and has created hand stitched wall hangings based on specific memories from her trip. If you go, be sure to report back to the rest of us!
